A Greater Manchester high school has been forced to keep its doors closed following a 'serious electrical fault'.

Westhoughton High School , in Westhoughton, Bolton , is unable to open for staff or students today (November 5).

In a post on the school's Facebook page, the school confirmed students would be set work to complete online instead.

A decision on whether the building can reopen on Thursday is yet to be made.

A school spokesperson wrote on Facebook: "Urgent notice - school closure. Unfortunately due to a serious electrical fault in the school building we are unable to open the site today.

"The school is therefore closed to all staff and students. Teachers will set work today via arbor or teams.
