LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Following the devastating crash of UPS 2976 at Muhammad Ali International Airport, airport operations are slowly resuming.

All flights were cancelled after the Honolulu-bound MD-11 crashed into an industrial area south of the airport. The crash killed nine people, Mayor Craig Greenberg reported early Wednesday.

Airport officials confirm that runway 11/29 is open at SDF and the airport is available for aircraft operations.

TSA screening remains on-going this morning for departing passengers. Anyone scheduled to depart or arrive at SDF today is encouraged to closely monitor their flight status as delays and cancellations are likely following Tuesday’s incident.

There are numerous cancellations Wednesday. Check your flight status before going to the airport.
