A council director has said a new busway in Cambridge is “absolutely essential” for young people, as a public inquiry continues. A public inquiry into the controversial proposals to build the new Cambourne to Cambridge (C2C) busway continued on Wednesday (November 5).
The plans have received backlash in the lead up to the inquiry, receiving around 300 objections that questioned the justification for the project. Many objectors asked if another location could be chosen to avoid negative environmental effects.
Stephen Kelly, joint director of planning at South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council , gave evidence on Wednesday. Mr Kelly was questioned on several topics in a meeting that lasted more than three hours.
