MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis voters flocked to the polls Tuesday, setting a record number of ballots cast in a municipal election.
About 55% of registered voters turned out on Tuesday, which was 1% more than the previous record. Municipal elections are those that don't involve voting for President, U.S. Senator, or U.S. Representative.
“This year’s record-breaking turnout is something our entire City can be proud of,” said Katie Smith, Director of Elections & Voter Services. “It’s a reflection of the incredible dedication of our voters and the 1,900 election workers who made Election Day run so smoothly."
