Plans to expand a special school in Peterborough have been approved by the city council. NeneGate School is a special school run by the Meridian Trust offering education for pupils aged nine to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

The trust, in collaboration with Peterborough City Council , applied to the local authority for planning permission in April to construct a new block with five classrooms and a multi-use games area, as well as 14 extra parking spaces.

The existing school building was designed to accommodate 48 students. It is currently operating over capacity at a total of 64 students on the roll, with this number expected to increase to 88 based upon a projected increase in demand.
