SHELBYVILLE — Striking dealers and dual-rate employees from Horseshoe Casino will speak at tonight’s Shelbyville City Council meeting, pressing city leaders to back their ongoing fight for union recognition with Teamsters Local 135.
The workers, who are currently on strike, plan to use the public comment period during the council’s meeting on Wednesday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m. ET to urge municipal support.
Strike Forced After Union Vote Delay
The group of approximately 200 workers was initially scheduled to vote in their union election on Friday, October 17. However, the election was delayed indefinitely due to an ongoing government shutdown.
