Lanarkshire Council have warned the public over illegal “Dum Bum” fireworks after a load of the highly explosive brand were seized.

Trading Standards, alongside Police Scotland , confiscated the bangers, which are said to have 'unpredictable detonation' and can cause serious hand injuries due to their high explosive content.

The local authority says that a significant seizure was made from an unlicensed residential property. The public are being strongly urged not to use the fireworks

Bangers have been banned since 1997 due to serious safety risks and anti-social behaviour issues.
