SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Following nearly two decades of sports leadership at the University of Rhode Island (URI), Vice President and Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn will be stepping down to pursue a new opportunity.

According to URI, Bjorn has accepted a new role as senior deputy athletics director and chief administrative officer at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. There, he will oversee the football program and assist with administrative and managerial aspects of the athletics department.

His last day in South Kingstown will be Nov. 29.
