DUNBAR, Neb. (WOWT) - Two days after announcing she was running for Nebraska State Treasurer , conservative Republican Julie Slama announced she is suspending her campaign.
The former state senator and Dunbar resident announced her candidacy for the office on Monday just ahead of Gov. Jim Pillen’s announcement that he had selected Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg to replace Tom Briese , who is stepping down after he was appointed by the governor in 2023.
In suspending her campaign, Slama indicated her support of the incoming treasurer, saying she had met with Spellerberg and endorses his 2026 campaign.
