WHITE PLAINS – A Westchester County Court jury Wednesday afternoon found a Peekskill man guilty of murder in the death of a Department of Social Services worker in 2024.

Hasseem Jenkins, 32, was convicted of killing Maria Coto on May 14, 2024.

Following a multi-week trial, Jenkins was found guilty of murder, manslaughter, robbery, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon.

District Attorney Susan Cacace said Coto “devoted her brief time on Earth to helping others. She was a petite woman with an uncommonly generous spirit.”

The DA said she will “live on in all the lives she touched along the way.”

Jenkins will be sentenced in December.
