A woman has been found dead in a car that was submerged in an Upstate New York pond, according to New York State Police.
Police said they were dispatched by the Otsego County 911 Center to a report of a vehicle in water near the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Skinner Road in the town of Richfield Springs. A passerby called 911 after observing what appeared to be part of a submerged vehicle around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A 39-year-old female was found dead inside the vehicle upon arrival, troopers said. Her name was not immediately released, but police said she was identified as a Richfield Springs resident.
Police said a preliminary investigation determined she was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. She continued off the road, crashing
