Bideford has been left still and quiet after the fatal fire on Honestone Street last Tuesday (October 28). There has been an increased police presence and a large amount of uncertainty for the North Devon town's residents.

Visiting the town, DevonLive found that many were unwilling to talk about the fire or were visiting and hadn't heard of it at all. But there is shock and sadness in the air.

Peter Bullock, 84, lives on the street behind the property. He says that while 45 people were evacuated, he was one of the few close neighbours allowed to stay on Tuesday night since his house was detached from the rest of the street.

He explained that most properties on Honestone Street, Highfield Place and Anchorage Court were evacuated.
