AUSTIN, Texas — One person has been taken into custody after police responded to a SWAT incident late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning in North Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers received a call at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about a possible gunshot at a home along Cedar Street and West 31st St., not far from the UT Austin campus.
The caller said a person had barricaded themselves with a gun inside the home, and APD SWAT responded to the scene.
Law enforcement spent several hours attempting to reach the person in the home, and police said they were eventually taken into custody in "a peaceful ending."
The roadway was temporarily shut down to traffic, but has since been reopened.
