PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Inside the Pregnancy Care Center, tables are lined with baby clothes and toys— small items that represent a big promise: support, for any woman who walks through the door. In 1985, Aroostook County opened the first Crisis Pregnancy Center in the state of Maine. Since then, the center has expanded its reach — now helping thousands of women and children across the County. And it all started with one woman who wanted to make a difference 40 years ago — Wendy Lord

“She just opened her home and that was the beginning of the pregnancy care center and now here we are 40 years later, 3 pregnancy care centers and we’ve been serving the needs of families and young women for 40 years whether it’s food or helping them to get shelter or clothing.” says Sullivan.
