CARMEL – Jake D’Angelo’s first break in politics came four years ago – at age 20 – when he scored an interview with then Assemblyman Kevin Byrne for an entry-level staffer position.

D’Angelo hurried to Macy’s to purchase a blue sports coat in anticipation of the meeting. Since then, D’Angelo has cut his teeth in the political game, putting the blazer to good use. He still owns it and, of course, was donning it when he was elected to the Putnam County Legislature on Tuesday night.

D’Angelo, Mahopac High Class of 2019, is still just 24. He is the youngest person to ever be elected to the Putnam County Legislature.

“It’s a little unreal how fast my political career has moved, but it is something I am passionate about,” said D’Angelo, a Republican, who will begin representing Legislative
