The owner of the former Flounders at 90 Pottersville Road still plans to open a new restaurant on the site. But he suggested that if issues don’t work themselves out well over the next year or so, he might be forced to walk.
Roger Wilkie, who formerly owned the building along with another owner, bought it back last November. Built in 1920, the building has a long history as a restaurant going back to 1980, when the late George Crowther opened Crowthers. After that, Wilkie and the other owner ran the business as Flounders until it closed in 2022.
Wilkie, who owns a construction company in Tiverton, bought the property back after it went into receivership. As it was a long process, he chose the name “The Stalking Horse Tavern” as a tongue-in-cheek way to acknowledge th
