A fisher, a large omnivorous member of the weasel family, collected for surveillance testing in July in the town of Conesus has tested positive for rabies, reports Livingston County Public Health Director Jennifer Rodriguez.

A New York State Health Department laboratory confirmed the test Nov. 4, Rodriguez said.
