A storeroom at a village pub near Peterborough could be converted into a guesthouse. Ron Leishman applied for planning permission and listed building consent on November 6 to convert the building to the rear of the Grade II Listed Blue Bell pub on High Street, Maxey.

If approved by Peterborough City Council planners, the unused storeroom would become two guest bedrooms for short-term letting. This would include holiday accommodation or Airbnb -style stays, according to the plans.

"The proposed use supports local tourism and visitor accommodation in line with national and local planning policies that encourage sustainable economic development," planning documents stated.
