British families are embracing Christmas decorations on a grander scale this year, something that has delighted Laura Whitmore. Recent research reveals that UK households are supersizing their festive displays, with nearly half installing two or more trees, particularly in living rooms, dining rooms and hallways.

Many are also investing more time and money in planning their decorations than they did a decade ago, with happiness being the primary motivation. Others say they want to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for family and friends.

Additionally, a third believe it enhances how their home appears in photographs. Luxury artificial Christmas tree and décor brand Balsam Hill commissioned the study to launch its competition seeking the UK's most talented self-taught tree decorator
