SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — While most of our area remains in drought conditions, recent rain has led to at least some improvement.

This is according to the latest summary from the United States Drought Monitor, which accounts for the conditions through 8 a.m. on Nov. 4.

The areas in Western and Northern New York that were in severe drought last week have been downgraded to a moderate drought.

From the eastern shore of Lake Ontario to Watertown and the Tug Hill Plateau, the moderate drought that existed last week has been downgraded to abnormally dry conditions. This is also the case for some areas just south of Syracuse.
