Huntsville Police announced Thursday the search for a missing man, 25-year-old Lazarus Howard III, ended Wednesday when police found him dead in an area near the 29,000 block of Highway 20.

According to police, preliminary evidence supports Howard was the victim of a homicide. An autopsy still needs to be completed to officially determine the cause of death, but a 19-year-old has been arrested for his murder.

Howard was reported missing on July 19 after last speaking with his mother on July 10.

Since that time, HPD investigators have been pursuing the case, conducting multiple searches of his apartment and obtaining warrants and subpoenas to gather information on his whereabouts.

An anonymous tip helped investigators identify Kylan James Haley, of Montgomery, as a person of interest.
