TOPSHAM, Maine —

Maine School Administrative District No. 75 says there is an active search in Topsham for two missing girls who are students at Woodside Elementary School.

The second-grade students, who are both 7, were last seen on the school's playground at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, according to MSAD 75 Superintendent Heidi O'Leary.

The Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency said the girls were last seen leaving the school on foot.

In addition, the Sagadahoc County EMA identified the missing girls as Olivia Burch and Sofia Garza.

Shortly before 1:15 p.m., the Sagadahoc County EMA shared a message on social media asking people to remain vigilant and keep an eye out for the girls, but also asked the public to not come out to assist with the search.
