PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Morton man was arrested Thursday for allegedly having about 1,000 child pornography pictures and videos.

Michael D. Edie, 64, was taken to the Tazewell County Jail and then released with a notice to appear later in court, according to Sheriff Jeff Lower. He was booked on the charge of possession of child porn, a felony that carries a possible 30-year prison term.

The sheriff's office was tipped off to Edie by the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

Edie was taken into custody at about 9 a.m. Thursday, after investigators with the sheriff's office and the Morton Police Department executed a search warrant. They found electronic devices that allegedly contained the illicit images, according to the sheriff's office.
