MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tennessee Governor Bill Lee posted a video urging New York City business owners to relocate to Tennessee following the mayoral election of Zohran Mamdani.
"In light of the recent election results, I thought it might be a good time to remind you that Tennessee is the best state in the country for doing business. If you are a New York City business owner and you don't like the direction your city is headed, I have a message for you. Tennessee is open for business," Lee said.
New York City voters elected Mamdani, 34, on Tuesday, making him the city's first Muslim mayor. Mamdani ran as a democratic socialist with a campaign agenda that included free buses, free child care, city-run grocery stores, and a rent freeze for rent-stabilized apartments.
