Negotiations continue between Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE), but a teaching strike is still possible from as early as next week.
The two sides are working toward new contracts for teachers, education support professionals, and adult education teachers under the specter of a potential strike, which could begin as early as Nov. 11.
While MPS says it is "committed to reaching an agreement quickly that is student-centered, fair, and that substantially addresses union and district priorities," it sent parents details on how to prepare for a strike.
The notice shared details on available childcare and meals that can be obtained by students should a strike take place.
