WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man has been sentenced to prison for a 2024 incident that shut down a Wichita street.

Sedgwick County District Court Judge Eric Williams sentenced Jonathan Ross on Wednesday to 56 months (just over 4½ years) in prison.

Ross, 43, of Wichita was charged in a June 2024 incident in Old Town that led to the closure of Douglas Avenue and the evacuation of businesses.

Wichita police responded to a domestic assault call near Douglas and St. Francis Avenue.

When they arrived, they found a woman who reported that Ross was armed and had attacked her inside the apartment they shared. Ross then barricaded himself inside the apartment and didn't surrender until hours later. • Heavy police presence in Old Town blocks off Douglas on June 12, 2024 (KSN Photo) • Heavy police
