LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Newly released satellite images are showing the scale of destruction left behind after a UPS cargo plane crashed shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Wednesday.

The before-and-after photos show scorched debris and damaged buildings in the area surrounding the crash site.

Officials confirmed at least 13 people, including a child, have died. Several others remain missing or injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are now investigating what caused the plane to go down, but authorities said it could be several weeks before investigators reveal any findings.
