PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Peoria woman charged with aggravated arson will remain in prison pending the outcome of her case after allegedly setting fire to her downtown apartment.
Vanessa Walker, 45, appeared in front of Peoria County Judge Mark Gilles on Thursday, who granted the state's petition for her to be held pending the outcome of her case, Peoria County State's Attorney Office's spokeswoman Anna Perales said.
During a probable cause hearing on Wednesday, Assistant State's Attorney Greg Siepel said that Walker allegedly told police that she started a fire in her apartment because she was "upset" about the government shutdown.
