FARGO — If you’re heading out for the deer gun openers in North Dakota or Minnesota this weekend, it might be wise to pack a few extra layers.

A hunting expert at Scheels says wearing multiple layers can help fend off the dropping temperatures this weekend.

He recommends a warm base layer, a middle layer with some weight to it, and an outer shell to keep the wind out.

He says don’t underestimate how cold it can get in the deer stand.

“Over preparing especially for cold is never a bad thing. Having extra hand warmers is gonna be huge and layering correctly is what it’s all about,” said Kevin Deetz, hunting expert at Fargo Scheels.

The Fargo Scheels is hosting its “Blaze Days” hunting event until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6.
