QUINCY (WGEM) - Winter is on it’s way, which means it’s time for furnaces to be checked out.
Jamie Terstegge, sales consultant for Air Specialists Heating & Air Conditioning in Quincy, said maintenance is recommended on furnaces yearly. When maintenance is done, he said they check to make sure everything is in working order, including the gas lines and drain lines.
If the yearly maintenance isn’t done, Terstegge said problems can easily arise.
“When they do work that’s great, but when they don’t, they usually don’t when you really need them and then it becomes an emergency,” Terstegge said.
For those using humidifiers this winter, Terstegge said those also need to be checked yearly. If a wood burning fireplace is being used, he also said to make sure the chimney is cleaned before use.
