The parents of Southport killer Axel Rudakubana have issued a tearful apology to the victims' families.

Alphonse Rudakubana and Laetitia Muzayire addressed the bereaved families as they gave evidence at the public inquiry into the horror attack that left three young girls dead.

The killer, who was 17 at the time, murdered seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, six-year-old Bebe King and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29 last year.

He is currently serving a 52-year sentence after pleading guilty to the murder of the three girls and the attempted murder of 10 others.
