TRI-CITIES, Tenn. (WJHL) - More than a year after Hurricane Helene struck the Tri-Cities, many are still feeling the impacts it left behind.
On Thursday, both Hampton High School and Temple Hill Elementary received relief funding from the Tennessee Education Association (TEA).
The funding, $10,000 for each school, was awarded in hopes of instilling positivity and hope in the recipients.
Students at Hampton High School were relocated to the former Keenburg Elementary School after their school was destroyed by Helene, but they will soon return in January. Baileigh Mathews, a junior at Hampton, said she is excited to finish her junior and senior years at the school she calls home.
