HAYWOOD, W.Va. (WBOY) — As West Virginia seeks to expand its energy resume, FirstEnergy announced on Thursday that it plans to expand its power generation operations.

During a press conference at the Harrison Power Plant in Haywood, the company announced that it will be adding a new natural gas-fired plant to Harrison County. Company officials said that the proposed plant will help address the growing demand for dependable, cost-effective electricity for families and businesses in West Virginia.

Officials with State Treasurer Larry Pack's office were on hand at the press conference, who told 12 News that a location for the plant has yet to be determined. The plant will also still need to be approved by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia.
