Alaska State Troopers are warning residents about a scam involving someone claiming to be one of their officers.
On Tuesday, a local bank reported receiving a call from a man identifying himself as “Sergeant Fritz” from the Anchorage Post of the Alaska State Troopers. The caller said he needed to speak with an employee about a personal matter.
The bank, suspicious of the call, contacted the Alaska State Troopers to verify the officer’s employment. When troopers returned the call, they discovered a voicemail claiming to be from the State Troopers.
“Sergeant Fritz” later called back, but disconnected immediately when confronted by troopers.
Authorities remind Alaskans to stay cautious. If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from law enforcement, contact your local State Trooper
