BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Some North Dakotans will be receiving partial SNAP benefits as early as Friday, November 7, the ND Department of Health and Human Services announced.
This comes after federal court orders were issued to mobilize some of the funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
HHS will have to recalculate the SNAP benefits for all of the approximately 28,000 households in the state that receive these benefits. The amount each household will receive is based on a federal recalculation that takes 65% of the usual maximum benefit amount and deducts 30% of the household's net adjusted income, which is the standard based on SNAP rules.
The federal government is currently funding SNAP at 65%, for November.
