Halton police have charged a civilian employee accused of posing as a female modelling scout to obtain “intimate images” from adult victims.
Police said the 42-year-old man from Guelph also promised payments to the victims for the images, which were never made.
The man used Instagram for the con under the handle @stephy_rk, police said in a news release on Thursday.
He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with fraud over $5,000 and obtaining property by deception.
Police say the man has been suspended with pay.
“We are committed to upholding public trust. The actions alleged in this investigation do not reflect the values of the service or the dedication of our officers and civilian members,” said Halton Regional Police Chief Stephen Tanner in a statement.
