HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In Big Island high school football, a league champion will be crowned on Friday as Kamehameha-Hawaii faces Honokaa.
The last two years, the Warriors have won the Division II league title getting the sole bid to the state tournament.
“We see the BIIF Championships as a stepping stone to get to our larger goal which is playing in the state championship. We really want to be there,” said head coach Kealoha Wengler.
Wengler says it’s the team-first mentality that separates this squad from others.
So much so, that the Warriors moved their starting quarterback Chanse Kaaua-Long to slot back, and are now handing the reigns to freshman Kahekili Makekau.
