Woman found dead on scene of Brampton high

An elderly woman was found dead on the scene of a fire in a Brampton high-rise on Thursday evening, Peel paramedics say.

Fire crews responded to flames coming from a 14th floor unit in an apartment building near Queen Street E. and Central Park Drive.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene after lifesaving measures were taken, according to first responders. But it is unclear whether the woman died as a result of the fire.

Paramedics tell CBC Toronto the woman did not seem to have any signs of smoke inhalation or burns.

Emergency officials continue to investigate the incident.
