WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A note to parents and guardians of Andover High School students confirmed that an investigation that followed the report of a student possibly possessing a gun at the school revealed that what the student brought was “a toy gun that looked real.”
“Possession of a replica weapon is a serious offense,” wrote Andover High School Principal Brent Riedy, noting that there were no threats made and “at no time were students in any danger.”
Riedy added that the student’s parents were contacted and “school administration is handling the situation appropriately.”
“We will continue working very closely with law enforcement on this matter,” the principal wrote.
Riedy credited other students for notifying administrators about the possible weapon.
