RIDGWAY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A special bell was dedicated in Elk County as part of a state-wide art display commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States.
It's called "Bells Across PA" and the one now standing outside of the Elk County Courthouse in Ridgway was created by the thousands of students at each of the county's 14 schools, including home school programs.
It's covered in multi-colored splatter paint, which John Schlimm, the conceptual artist for the piece, hopes will help the bell stand out and allowed the students to be more expressive.
The bell is made of fiberglass and doesn't ring, but the one student artist, Calvin Thomas, said it speaks volumes of what makes America such a wonderful country -- working together -- which he told WTAJ News was his favorite part of the p
