It’s playoff time. That means it’s go-or-go-home time for every team, but for the three Robeson County teams that are playing this week in the first round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state playoffs — St. Pauls has a first-round bye in the 5A playoffs — that urgency seems to be particularly true.
Lumberton, Purnell Swett and Red Springs have each had seasons that probably weren’t as strong as they were hoping for — all with four wins or less — and each hasn’t been quite as good as they probably feel they could be.
But in the second season, they have a golden opportunity to leave that behind them and earn meaningful victories to extend their season.
Will they? That’s up to them to determine, but here’s my best guess on what will happen in those three matchups.
