FARGO — Fargo’s newest school resource officer is learning the ropes, navigating the halls of Davies High School.

While Andrew Dotas has been a police officer for nearly a decade, he says he feels like a new recruit as he reached a life goal of becoming an SRO.

It’s been a long journey to get to this day. He spent more than a year and a half recovering after being shot during a police ambush.

But now, as he’s settling into this new role, he says he’s even more determined to make a difference.

“Yeah, it’s been a whirlwind, for sure,” Dotas said.

Walking and even running the halls with his family at Davies High School, many may never imagine the journey it took for Dotas to get here to reach his dream of becoming an SRO.
