COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus Public Health is distributing emergency food and toiletries to SNAP recipients through Point of Distribution, or POD, centers as roughly 170,000 Franklin County residents who rely on the federal benefits program remain without assistance due to the ongoing government shutdown.
The events are being held at the city’s Mobile Produce Markets, with the first one on Thursday being held at the Glenwood Recreation Center.
The distribution centers, set up in areas of greatest need across the city, are providing frozen meals, produce, nonperishable food items, hygiene products and diapers to families unable to purchase groceries during the shutdown.
