Chayse Frymire converted the final penalty kick to lift sixth-seeded Notre Dame to victory over third-seeded and No. 12 Immaculata in a South Jersey Non-Public A quarterfinal in Somerville.
Notre Dame prevailed by a 5-4 margin in penalty kicks after the teams played to a 0-0 tie through regulation and two overtimes.
Isabella Daley, Anna Guido, Elizabeth O’Mara and Avery Whittle also converted penalty kicks for Notre Dame, which improved its record to 14-7-1 and advanced to face second-seeded Trinity Hall in Monday’s sectional semifinals.
“It was a defensive game,” Notre Dame coach Lauren Diaz said. “I’m just really proud of the girls. They played with so much heart.”
Kate Moog earned the victory in goal for Notre Dame, which has won six of its last seven.
