SPARTANBURG (WSPA) - Grace Herlugson spent many of her early years living 10,000 miles away from Spartanburg in Papua, New Guinea.
Her life, since returning to the United States, has been another kind of journey.
Herlugson has been a police officer with the Spartanburg Police Department for five years after serving in the Greenville Guardian Ad Litem program. However, she said COVID changed everything for her.
"I saw the (impact) that COVID had,” Herlugson said. "And a lot of my children in the foster care system, we weren't able to have face-to-face visits with them. I struggled a lot with that.”
“I decided to move forward into more of a front-line reporting and saw law enforcement as a catalyst to do that."
