MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The Town of Mount Pleasant will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday for the completion of the Shem Creek bike lanes project.

This will mark the town’s first installation of green bike lane pavement markings along the busy stretch of Coleman Boulevard.

The lanes and markings are designed to enhance cyclist visibility and motorist awareness.

Improvements also include extended pedestrian handrails and other safety features supporting the town’s commitment to safer, more connected streets.

Construction for the project began in early 2025. The new bike lanes begin at Coleman Boulevard and stretch across the Shem Creek Bridge.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. near the intersection of Coleman Boulevard and Mill Street.
