BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The Bottineau County Sheriff's Office has a new K-9, a standard German shepherd named Vic. She is three years old, and came as a gift from the Turtle Mountain tribe after her previous handler sold her to the sheriff's office for $1.
Bottineau County Sheriff Jeremy Tofteland says they are planning to bring back the K-9 program in an effort to reduce drug-related crimes in the region. This effort also includes the recently formed Northland Narcotics Task Force, a collaboration between the counties of Bottineau, Pierce, and Rolette, as well as the City of Rugby and the Turtle Mountain Reservation.
