A former headteacher has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Matthew Bennett, 47, had previously been a head teacher at fee-paying Clifton High School .
He was charged in July 2023 with the offence.
Following a hearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this week, Bennett, from Bristol, was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work which must be completed within 12 months.
In addition he was ordered to carry out rehabilitation activity up to 20 days.
He was also handed a fine of £199 and must register with the police as a sex offender for the next five years.
