PORTLAND, Ore. (KGW) – A driver’s dash camera captured the moment a piece of concrete fell from an overpass and onto his car.

“Right when it hit, it just exploded and it felt like a bomb dropping on our car,” Enrique Ruiz described.

Ruiz says what happened to him on Sunday could have been worse if it occurred milliseconds later.

His Tesla’s cameras recorded video.

“We’re driving home from church and asking the kids about what they’re learning when all of a sudden, ‘Boom,’” Ruiz said. “Impact.”

The impact from a piece of concrete from the Morrison Street viaduct above left a good-sized dent in the hood of his Tesla.

The dent was just inches away from the front windshield and the front seat where his wife was sitting in.
