MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A grand jury indicted a 77-year-old Tennessee man on 32 counts of child sex abuse. That child was 8 years old at the time of his arrest, according to the Covington Police Department (CPD).
CPD announced the arrest of 77-year-old Gary Stubblefield on Thursday. He faces 32 counts of aggravated sexual battery and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Covington detectives began investigating Stubblefield in March. That investigation started with a Department of Children's Services referral surrounding the allegations of child sex abuse of an 8-year-old.
Police said the alleged assaults happened over a two-year period while the child was being babysat.
Officers arrested Stubblefield at his home on Thursday. His bond was set at $250,000.
